Hand Painted Patachitra Sarees


Raghurajpur is a heritage village of Odisha which is famous for it’s handicraft product like patachitra painting, Palm Engraving, Lord Jagannath Idols, Papier Mache Crafts etc.

This village is located in 10 kms from puri and 55 Kms from Bhubaneswar.

There are about 100 villages and in every house all family members are artist.

Most of these artist won National Award for this beautiful crafts.

The village is full of Palm tree, coconut tree and the entrance gate is too much beautiful.

Raghurajpur village is the birthplace of Odisha finest Odissi dancer Kelucharan Mohapatra.

The patachitra paintings are made over a piece of cloth known as Patta or a dried palm leaf, which is first painted with a mixture of chalk and gum. Over the prepared surface, colorful and intricate pictures of various Gods, Goddesses, and mythological scenes with ornamentation of flowers, trees and animals are then painted.

Nowadays the artist of raghurajpur customized the saree with mythological scenes in Anchal and border.

Mostly saree lovers wear this traditional handcrafted saree in several party and festivals.
